Why Laureles, not El Poblado
Laureles is Medellín’s most authentic residential area — flat, walkable, packed with local cafés and restaurants. Compared to El Poblado, there is less mass tourism, more neighborhood life, and better value-for-experience. For digital nomads and travelers who want the real Medellín, it is the best choice.
Specialty coffee (5 min on foot)
Ritual, Revolución and Semilla are three benchmarks just minutes from Casa Museo. Excellent Wi-Fi, single-origin beans, relaxed vibe. If you work remote, they are your second desk.
Restaurants and nightlife
Avenida Nutibara and the Laureles Parks range from casual to upscale. La 70 is a short walk away — perfect for dinner or drinks in a livelier setting. The area is safe to walk at night.
Key distances
Provenza / El Poblado: 15-20 min by car. Atanasio Girardot Stadium: 7 min by car, minutes by bike. José María Córdova Airport (MDE): 45 min via the Oriente Tunnel. Olaya Herrera regional airport: 20 min.
Safety and getting around
Laureles is one of the safest, best-lit areas in town. Uber, DiDi and Cabify work great with 2-3 min wait. Estadio and Suramericana metro stations are close. The EnCicla bike network covers the whole neighborhood.
